Properties of 410 Stainless steel screws

Heat Treatment
Galvanizing: Heats slowly to 1500 -1650°F, cool down to 1100°F in furnace, air cool. Process Galvanizing: Heats up to 1350 -1450°F, air cool. Hardening: Heats up to 1700 – 1850°F, air cool or oil quench followed by temper or stress-relief. Stress Relieving: Heats at 300 – 800°F for 1-2 hours, air cool.

410 Stainless Steel has cold working properties allowing it to be temperately drawn and structured in the galvanized condition.

Fabrication
SS 410 screws offer unique hardening properties which makes them difficult to be welded using conventional techniques. They must first be pre-heated, followed by a post-weld galvanizing treatment to alleviate cracking.
